Boxer dogs
Talk to me.

Me and my daughter are desperate for a boxer puppy, however my wife is allergic to dander and isn't keen on entertaining the idea. Google throws up different theories on allergies, but as a short haired hound, I'm guessing they don't shed much?

I know they need a shit load of exercise which isn't an issue, is there anything else we need to be aware of? Is it true females slobber less than males?

Oh, and I'll call it BONZO, so this is still West Ham related, gank.

I always wondered how blind people with dog allergies get round it when they get a dog?? Yeah they just get used to it probably...

Re: Boxer dogs
Put it this way Buster, boxers are thick enough to run into the back of parked cars.

As long as your kids are smarter than that, the dog won't be able to help them with their homework.

Re: Boxer dogs
My girlfriend has one. They really are great dogs. Mad as a march hare mind you. Even at eight he still has a puppy mentality. But if you don't want to deal with molting and slobber I would not recommend.

Get a border terrier. Again great dogs. Small but not a lap dog, very sturdy. Great family pets with a personality as colourful as a boxer. Wirehaired so shedding is down to a minimum if none at all. Oh and much less slobber if that is a problem..

Regarding allergies... get a dog and you'll get used to it... used to be like it with cats... when we got a couple within a couple of days I was fine...

Every boxer I have ever met has been as thick as my Mum's custard... my Mate had a pure white one in Basildon... the thing was the most hyper thing I have ever known... never went out for a walk... he went out for a bounce...

I have the same problem Buster, if you have a heavily carpeted house forget it, wood floors is ok as long as you keep it mopped.

We have two labs and one sheds like fuck but we dont have much carpet in the house as we live in a hot climate

Re: Boxer dogs
I have three (yes three) Boxers. My and my wife's favourite breed and as everyone else has already stated, they're mental.

They do molt and you'll need a good Hoover. I tend to sweep my house and then Hoover afterwards.

They're affectionate, playful, friendly and unusually sized lapdogs

Re: Boxer dogs
Boxers are loyal and lovable but can also be crazy and headstrong. You have to train them properly from the start, but even then it can be a struggle. That said, Having grown up with them I wouldn't have changed a thing, they are to me a wonderful breed of dog and you can do a lot worse!

I think the breathing issues were probably more to do with the stairs than the carpet, you tubby motherfucker.

Buster...

When I 1st moved in with my now Mrs I had breathing issues as we had carpet down stairs and the dander gets bedded in.

At 1st I'd cough until my head was about to explode, I took Percojesic, seemed to do the trick.

We moved house and we have no carpet and have had no issues.
